Cyclect completed Singapore’s first trigeneration power system in 2009, a 10MW installation for MSD International’s pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The system — delivering electricity, heating and cooling simultaneously from a single fuel source — was developed in collaboration with Tuas Power, Solar Turbines and Shuangliang.
Trigeneration reduces overall energy consumption by recovering heat that conventional power generation wastes and putting it to work in the facility. For a pharmaceutical plant with continuous requirements for power, process heating and air conditioning, a well-designed trigeneration system can deliver significant long-term efficiency gains alongside the capital and engineering investment.
The MSD project established Cyclect as the first contractor to deliver industrial trigeneration at this scale in Singapore, and provided the engineering reference that supported subsequent energy project work for other industrial clients.
