Cyclect was appointed the first regional service agent for ASEA in 1965 — the Swedish electrical engineering company that would later merge to become ABB. As part of the arrangement, engineers were sent to Sweden for specialist training in ASEA’s motor and generator technology.
The ASEA appointment changed Cyclect’s market position. Instead of competing as a general electrical repair company, it now held an authorised agency for one of the world’s leading power technology brands in the Southeast Asian region. Clients who needed ASEA equipment properly serviced had a defined and qualified place to go.
The ASEA relationship persisted through ASEA’s merger into ABB, and Cyclect’s connection to ABB technology — now reinforced through the 2024 acquisition of ABB’s motor and generator service division — spans six decades of continuous partnership.
