2015: Organic Rankine Cycle Power Generation Unit Earns US Patent for Cyclect

Cyclect received a US Patent for an oil-free ORC power generation unit that recovers industrial waste heat and converts it to electricity, with improved efficiency over conventional designs.

Cyclect received a US Patent for an oil-free Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generation unit, invented by Dr Yanagi. The system recovers low-grade waste heat and converts it into usable electrical energy without the lubrication systems required by conventional ORC designs — improving efficiency and reducing maintenance complexity.

ORC technology is relevant wherever industrial processes generate heat as a byproduct — chemical plants, refineries, data centres, manufacturing facilities — and where that heat can be captured and converted rather than rejected.

The patent reflected genuine engineering innovation: a specific technical problem addressed through original design, validated by the US Patent Office. It sits alongside Cyclect’s practical energy project work as evidence of both execution capability and original technical development.
