From the late 1970s, Cyclect expanded its engineering operations beyond Singapore, establishing presence in Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei, Japan and China through joint ventures, partnerships and project deployments.
The decision to expand regionally was driven by client demand as much as strategic intent. Companies operating across Southeast Asia needed engineering partners who could follow them — or who were already in market. Cyclect’s marine, industrial and electrical engineering capability translated reasonably well across the region’s developing industrial infrastructure.
The regional presence built in this period contributed to the company’s understanding of operating in diverse regulatory, logistical and cultural environments. That experience has been applied to more recent international engagements in Bangladesh, India, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
