1989: Dedicated Semiconductor Engineering Division Launched

Cyclect established a dedicated Semiconductor Engineering Division in the early 1990s to serve Singapore's expanding wafer fab sector, building the cleanroom and EICA capabilities that underpin its advanced manufacturing work today.

Cyclect established a dedicated Semiconductor Engineering Division in the early 1990s to serve Singapore’s rapidly expanding wafer fabrication sector. The division provided electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering services for semiconductor manufacturing facilities being built across Singapore’s industrial estates.

Cleanroom environments impose specific requirements on engineering contractors: classified construction protocols, high-purity material handling, exacting quality documentation and absolute commitment to contamination control. These demands are not adjustable — a single error can compromise an entire fab batch and trigger expensive remediation.

Cyclect’s investment in semiconductor capability in the early 1990s was a deliberate bet on Singapore’s industrial trajectory. The division that was established then remains the foundation of Cyclect’s current work in advanced manufacturing, which now includes semiconductor, pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals and medical device facilities across Singapore.
